Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 13 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Ferris Yellowjackets proved on Tuesday. They blew past Hillsboro 58-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ferris.
Leading Ferris to victory were Carly Quiroz and Brooke Pearson. Quiroz dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds, while Pearson scored 18 points along with six steals. The matchup was Pearson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Breck Dormady, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Hillsboro saw an underclassman step up: Charlee Mack dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Mack scored a full 44.1% of Hillsboro's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ferris' win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Hillsboro, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-19.
Ferris will face off against Godley at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Godley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ferris in Texas (Godley is ranked 164th, while Ferris is ranked 719th). As for Hillsboro, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Venus at 6:15 p.m. Venus and Hillsboro are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
