Starks extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-12. They lost 13-7 to the Singer Hornets. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 17-7.
Brylie Smith put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and 12 unearned) runs off nine hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kynslee Stinson led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kynzlie Smith, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Singer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
On Singer's side, Hanna Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Kendall, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starks will host Hathaway at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.47 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Singer, they will welcome LaGrange at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.63 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
