After flying high against the Harpursville Hornets last Thursday, Deposit-Hancock came back down to earth. Deposit-Hancock fell 58-46 to Walton on Monday. The match was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but Deposit-Hancock was outscored by Walton in the second.
Deposit-Hancock's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zech Begeal, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Begeal has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Zach Russell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Deposit-Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Walton, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Unadilla Valley the next time they take the court. Deposit-Hancock will head out to face Unadilla Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while Walton will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
