The Independence Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Providence Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Independence, who comes in off a win.
Independence can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Garinger at home to the tune of 72-43. Given Independence's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Wildcats are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Providence came up short against the Bulldogs on Tuesday and fell 51-39. Providence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Independence pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Providence, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Independence beat the Panthers 67-54 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
