The King Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Santiago Sharks at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. King has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since September 6.
On Wednesday, King didn't have quite enough to beat Norco and fell 3-2.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, King sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-19, 13-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-7.
King might have lost, but man, Brielle Thompson was a machine: she had ten digs and two aces. Sophia Manley also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
If Corona wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Santiago, they should've done a better job of containing Kaedyn Blotzer. The Sharks blew past the Panthers 3-0 on Wednesday with plenty of help from Blotzer, who had 13 digs and three aces. She has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played.
Santiago never let Corona on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-11, 25-23.
King's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Santiago, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: King has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Santiago struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
King might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Santiago in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
