Softball Recap: Poth Has No Trouble Against Stockdale

Poth's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Stockdale Brahmas 12-5. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Karlee Kroll made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Bella Serna was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jetta Jorden, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Poth is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Stockdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Poth will challenge rival Luling at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stockdale is set to face off against their familiar foe Goliad at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
