Antonian Prep is a perfect 10-0 against Incarnate Word since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Apaches will challenge the Shamrocks at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Antonian Prep made easy work of TMI-Episcopal and carried off an 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Apaches.
Khloe Villanueva was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Isabella Garza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Antonian Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Incarnate Word made easy work of TMI-Episcopal on Tuesday and carried off a 15-4 win. The Shamrocks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Bella Muniz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Rivas, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Pia Laguna was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Antonian Prep's record now sits at 18-9. As for Incarnate Word, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
Antonian Prep beat Incarnate Word 10-6 when the teams last played last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
