The Plainfield Quakers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Mooresville Pioneers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Pioneers 53-47. Plainfield has not had much luck with Mooresville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Plainfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Berkeley Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Hannah Menser was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
It was another big night for Rachel Harshman, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds for Mooresville. Harshman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hardy, who scored seven points.
Plainfield's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 14-7. As for Mooresville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield will take on Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Mooresville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Terre Haute South Vigo at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Terre Haute South Vigo has struggled recently with 16 defeats in a row, while Mooresville will arrive with three straight wins.
