2A District 5 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Dulce led 2A District 5 in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Cuba.
Tyler Sorensen and Mikaele Mauga gave Navajo Prep a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Sorensen threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns, while Mauga ran for 96 yards. Izaac Eredia also contributed to the rushing game with 60 yards on the ground.
DARRIUS WATCHMAN was the best wideout in the league this week as Newcomb fell to the Eagles. WATCHMAN tallied six receptions for 135 yards. LANDON YAZZIE helped Newcomb's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Navajo Prep's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sorensen has thrown for 1557 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Mauga has 60 catches for 1091 yards. Eredia leads the league in rushing with 381 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 5 this week will be when Navajo Pine takes on the Hawks. As it stands, the Warriors are in second, while Dulce is in third.
