Newton is 2-8 against Hemphill since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Newton Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Hemphill Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Newton comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Wednesday, Newton suffered a rough 58-34 defeat at the hands of Pollok Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Newton has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Hemphill pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Diboll. Hemphill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Newton's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Hemphill, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Newton might still be hurting after the 66-41 loss they got from Hemphill in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Newton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
