Basketball Recap: Jazmin Torres Key Part of a Team Effort in Cowboys Win

Camp Verde won the last time they faced Northland Prep Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Camp Verde Cowboys snuck past the Northland Prep Academy Spartans with a 40-35 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cowboys.

Camp Verde got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jazmin Torres out in front who posted five points along with 11 boards and three steals. Torres is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Wa'Siiva Lewis, who put up ten points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Camp Verde was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northland Prep Academy only posted seven assists.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Annabelle Jackson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Jackson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Hayden Massey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Camp Verde has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. As for Northland Prep Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Camp Verde didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-21 win against Madison Highland Prep on the 31st. Northland Prep Academy has also already played their next contest, a 66-8 defeat against St. Johns on the 1st.
