Millbrook is 1-9 against Pine Plains since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Austin Mielich made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Pine Plains let Luke Blackburn and Matthew Spada run wild. Blackburn went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Spada went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Spada a new career-high. Warren Lounsbury was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pine Plains always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rhinebeck only posted an OBP of .263.
Millbrook's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pine Plains, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-0.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Pine Plains struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
