On Wednesday, Lyman suffered a tough 68-42 defeat at the hands of Astronaut.
Lyman's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Max Mattingly, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Davion Jones who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Jones continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. TOMMY MURRAY was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Lyman has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Astronaut, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Lyman will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against New Smyrna Beach at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Smyrna Beach presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lyman in Florida (New Smyrna Beach is ranked 131st, while Lyman is ranked 457th). Astronaut is on the road again on Thursday and play against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Global Outreach Charter Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
