This season hasn't been kind to the Antonito Trojans, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a 41-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Primero on Saturday. Antonito was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Primero apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Antonito's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luz Elena Parra, who scored six points along with ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. Zanita Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Antonito bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Primero, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Antonito will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moffat at 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Primero, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Grande at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sierra Grande comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
