The First Baptist School Hurricanes won the last time they faced the Pinewood Prep Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. First Baptist School snuck past Pinewood Prep with a 54-49 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for First Baptist School.
Despite the loss, Pinewood Prep saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Alexander scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. Alexander has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Michael Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
First Baptist School's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Pinewood Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-9.
First Baptist School will be playing at home against Cardinal Newman at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Newman will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Pinewood Prep will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. St. John's Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Pinewood Prep is ranked 55th).
