Even though the Sparta Spartans scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the La Crosse Logan Rangers still came out on top. La Crosse Logan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 win over Sparta. That's another feather in the cap for La Crosse Logan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evelyn Tripp, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Lily Seifert was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
La Crosse Logan's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13. As for Sparta, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Crosse Logan will square off against Aquinas at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sparta will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th.
