The Baldwin Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellsville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Baldwin has scored all season.
Baldwin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Carr, who scored 20 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Collum, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Baldwin's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Wellsville, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Baldwin will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bishop Seabury Academy at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Seabury Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Baldwin likes a good challenge. As for Wellsville, they will head out on the road to challenge Augusta on Friday. Augusta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Wellsville is ranked 17th).
