Elbert County lost to North Oconee at home by a decisive 68-54 margin. Elbert County has struggled against North Oconee recently, as their match on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Grady Jones and Boaz Goodman certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Jones scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Goodman scored 16 points. Jones scored a full 37% of Elbert County's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aj Brown, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Elbert County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Oconee, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Elbert County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Madison County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elbert County in Georgia (Madison County is ranked 69th, while Elbert County is ranked 437th). North Oconee's road trip will continue as they head out to face Nation Ford at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Nation Ford is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
