North Marion is 8-1 against the Eagles since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The North Marion Huskies are on the road again and plays the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. North Marion will be strutting in after a victory while the Eagles will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, North Marion beat the Wildcats 60-49.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Robert C. Byrd's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 45-36 to Elkins.
Despite the defeat, Robert C. Byrd had strong showings from Martina Howe, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Carleigh Curotz, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.6% of Robert C. Byrd's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
North Marion has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Robert C. Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
North Marion didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Marion since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
