Enterprise is 1-9 against Pleasant Valley since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Enterprise turned things around against Redding Christian on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Lions.
Maya Hubbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Carly Graham and Sadie Ross did most of the damage at the plate: Graham went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Ross went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Pumford, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 14-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this contest were averaging 3.9 runs allowed.
Like Enterprise, Pleasant Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Alissa Snipes. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Snipes has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Pleasant Valley let Carisma Ta'Amai and Lily Thurman run wild. Ta'Amai went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Thurman fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Thurman has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
Pleasant Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
Pleasant Valley pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Enterprise, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-10.
