South Dearborn extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greensburg Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-3 back in April.
Izaak Lozier put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Lozier was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Gabe Perry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of South Dearborn's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).
As for Greensburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.
Like South Dearborn, Greensburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Smith. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cy Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Dearborn will face off against rival Connersville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Greensburg is set to challenge their familiar foe East Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
