The Fort Wayne South Side Archers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They snuck past Lakeland with a 47-41 win on Saturday. For Fort Wayne South Side, this counts as revenge for the 58-24 loss Lakeland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Several Lakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cara Schackow, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Dulce Canedo, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fort Wayne South Side's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Lakeland, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Fort Wayne South Side's road trip will continue as they head out to face Concord at 2:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Lakeland will take on Fort Wayne North Side in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Hopefully Fort Wayne North Side focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
