The Mercy Prep Academy Royals suffered their biggest defeat since November 18, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 88-67 loss at the hands of Varsity Opponent. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mercy Prep Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Baker, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Mercy Prep Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Varsity Opponent, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 297-1138-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy Prep Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Faustina Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th. As for Varsity Opponent, they will take on Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
