Edinburg put the finishing touches on their 20th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 65-9 win over La Joya. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-5.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edinburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kimora Fagan, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Fagan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Carranco, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Edinburg North on Friday, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rebeca Tinoco, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jackie Molina was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Edinburg's victory bumped their record up to 27-2. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their win bumped their record up to 9-18.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Edinburg have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 41.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, though, as they've only made 23.9% of their threes per game this season. Given Edinburg's sizeable advantage in that area, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Edinburg against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 79-24 victory. With Edinburg ahead 42-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
