After a string of seven wins, the Arizona College Prep Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastmark. Arizona College Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastmark apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Arizona College Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zach Cutler, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cutler pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justice Moore, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Timothy Gorham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Eastmark, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds. Alex Burns was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Arizona College Prep's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4. As for Eastmark, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Arizona College Prep will head out on the road to take on Combs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Combs is on a four-game streak of home wins, Arizona College Prep a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Eastmark, Eastmark and American Leadership Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (American Leadership Academy is ranked 66th, while Eastmark is ranked 79th).
