It was a good run, but the Polo Marcos unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Scales Mound by a score of 64-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (60), Polo still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Polo had strong showings from Gus Mumford, who went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists, and Brock Soltow, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Soltow is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Hahn, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Scales Mound's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thomas Hereau, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Distler, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 1 assist.
Polo's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Scales Mound, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Polo will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Amboy at 7:30 p.m. Amboy has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Scales Mound, they will head out on the road to challenge River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. River Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.2 points per game.
