The South Granville Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Southern Durham Spartans at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Granville has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Southern Durham will arrive with nine straight victories.
While South Granville couldn't quite beat J.F. Webb on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 40-point loss they were dealt last Tuesday. South Granville fell just short of J.F. Webb by a score of 29-27.
In what's become a running theme this season, Southern Durham gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Granville Central 77-25 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Southern Durham had established a 35 point advantage.
Southern Durham relied on the efforts of Briana Hughes, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds, and Ashlyn Hudson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Hudson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Herndon, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.
South Granville's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Southern Durham, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
South Granville was taken down by Southern Durham 70-38 in their previous meeting back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point South Granville was down 44-23.
