The Lake City Panthers's 19-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. Their rough 64-42 loss to Lakewood on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake City has scored all season.
Lake City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blayne Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Edwards scored a full 33.3% of Lake City's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bryson Rose, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lakewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cedric Cisse out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Pop Cato was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lake City and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake City will take on Camden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Camden is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Marlboro County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marlboro County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakewood in South Carolina (Marlboro County is ranked 46th, while Lakewood is ranked 184th).
