The Antwerp Archers waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Montpelier 65-41. Given Antwerp's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Locomotives are ranked 660th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Landon Brewer, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Altimus, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Antwerp pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Montpelier, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antwerp and the Aces will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hicksville has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for Montpelier, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
