The Centennial Coyotes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. Their rough 39-18 defeat to Paradise Valley might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Centennial has suffered since December 11, 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaleia Young. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Centennial struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Paradise Valley pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Emilee Resendez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds for Paradise Valley. Resendez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Olivia Kollie was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Centennial's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.4 points per game. As for Paradise Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Centennial will head out on the road to take on Willow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paradise Valley, they will be playing at home against Kellis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kellis comes in on 11 and Paradise Valley on three.
