Basketball Recap: Prospect Ridge Academy Takes a Loss

Prospect Ridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 67-30 loss at the hands of the Denver Christian Thunder. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Thunder are ranked 31st).

When it comes to explaining why Prospect Ridge Academy lost, don't look at Kayah Robbins. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 21 boards. That was a full 46.7% of Prospect Ridge Academy's points, marking the eighth time in a row Robbins has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Waggoner, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Prospect Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamiree Fuller, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine steals. Fuller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 36 games she's played dating back to last season. Natalie Bohannon was another key player, going 6-for-11 on her way to 17 points in addition to six steals and six blocks.

Prospect Ridge Academy's record is now 3-18. As for Denver Christian, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.

Prospect Ridge Academy has already played their next game (against Arrupe Jesuit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Denver Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-38 victory against Colorado Academy on the 21st.
