Dustin Creppel and Dan Mitchell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Assumption. The connection went for 81 yards, the longest such play in 4A District 8 this season.
Vandebilt Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating South Terrebonne, 42-21. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Terriers.
Ellender's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Creppel threw for 312 and five touchdowns and Mitchell had 123 yards receiving. On the ground Ralph Singleton chipped in 39 yards. Jarrod Turner helped Ellender's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 88 yards.
The Patriots' Creppel and Turner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Creppel has thrown for 1923 yards this season, while Turner, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 35 catches for 545 yards. Eric Walker from Morgan City leads the league in rushing with 362 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against the Tigers, Creppel is short just 77 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Two of the top units in 4A District 8 will face off this week when Terry Washington's team takes on Morgan City. The Patriots' offense has racked up 236 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Brandin Nowlin's team has allowed only 52 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ellender takes on the Tigers. The Patriots are currently in fourth, while Morgan City is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Ellender and the Tigers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Patriots comes in having scored 236 this season, while Morgan City has scored 147. Ellender scored 32 points last week as it lost to the Mustangs.
