Eastwood has gone 9-1 against Fostoria recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redmen at 5:00 p.m. Eastwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Fostoria's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Eastwood barely beat Rossford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Kadyn Donnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Eastwood let Brock Messinger and Connor Norton run wild. Messinger went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Norton went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two doubles gave Messinger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Lautzenheiser, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Fostoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Genoa Area, falling 19-9.
Mason Cooley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Trent Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Eastwood has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Fostoria, their loss dropped their record down to 2-21.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eastwood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fostoria struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Eastwood took their victory against Fostoria in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 17-8 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Redmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
