The Battle Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Parkview Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Battle knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully Parkview likes a good challenge.
Battle put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Fort Zumwalt South as Battle made off with a 70-45 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Battle has posted since November 29, 2023.
Battle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tate McCubbin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Rooks, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Parkview made easy work of Lebanon last Tuesday and carried off a 59-39 victory. Given Parkview's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Lebanon is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Battle's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Parkview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Battle was able to grind out a solid win over Parkview in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 64-52. Does Battle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Parkview turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
