Dakota is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Bulldogs a 19-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Dakota Indians will take on the Durand Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Dakota struggled with assists on Friday (the Bulldogs had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dakota was outmatched by the Bulldogs at home and fell 57-19. Dakota was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-8.
Despite their defeat, Dakota saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Finley Banks, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Banks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Meanwhile, Durand was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 42-38 to the Wolves. Durand has not had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Dakota's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Durand, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Dakota didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. Will Dakota repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
