Pine Forest was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 6A District 1. The Eagles vanquished Washington 63-0 earlier in the week.
The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Branden Dirden and Kevontarious Williams proved tough for Pine Forest to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dirden threw for 61 yards and Williams had 53 yards receiving. Dirden helped Washington's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
Trebian Suggs was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 129 yards on 12 carries as Jerry Pollard's team lost to Jerry Pollard's team. Teammate James Mayberry added to the ground attack by rushing for 104 yards.
Craig LaBorde's team's Clay Hinton and Michael Thomas have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hinton has thrown for 600 yards this season, while Thomas, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 12 catches for 200 yards. Danikeei Hollowell from Escambia leads the league in rushing with 632 yards.
A big matchup in 6A District 1 this week will be when the Eagles take on Pensacola. As it stands, Pine Forest is in second, while the Tigers are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Eagles take on Pensacola. Pine Forest has allowed 55 points this season, while Mike Bennett's team has given up 82. The Eagles allowed 0 points last week as they beat the Wildcats.
The Gators moved up to 183 from 282 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Escambia was able to make the jump by beating the Patriots 29-28.
