Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Savannah Christian Raiders walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Peach County on Friday and snuck past 48-46. Winning may never get old, but Savannah Christian sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Savannah Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blaise Thomas out in front who threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Kenry Wall was another key contributor, gaining 138 total yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Peach County had strong showings from Don "dj" hudson jr., who threw for 307 yards and five touchdowns, and Dylan Johnson, who picked up 183 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Savannah Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Peach County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-7.
Savannah Christian will take on Morgan County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morgan County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Savannah Christian likes a good challenge. Peach County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
