Southeast Career Tech took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Chaparral get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. Considering the Roadrunners have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Laila Esparza was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Aysia Suyat and Ziana Fernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Suyat went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Fernandez went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Suyat is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Neveah Fuller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Southeast Career Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .839. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas fell victim to Foothill and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 15-0 to the Falcons. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
The win got Southeast Career Tech back to even at 8-8. As for Las Vegas, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Everything went Southeast Career Tech's way against Las Vegas in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Southeast Career Tech made off with a 10-0 victory.
