The Carlmont Scots were the 34-20 winner over the Woodside Wildcats when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Carlmont ended up on the wrong side of a tough 48-28 walloping at the hands of Woodside on Friday. Carlmont was down 48-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
When it comes to explaining why Carlmont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Braeden Kumer. Despite the final result, he rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Kumer was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Daniel Mattioli also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Evan Usher was a one-man wrecking crew for Woodside as he rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Oliver Lyssand, who rushed for 88 yards on only seven carries.
Carlmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Woodside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
Carlmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodside is also done with their season.
