The Midway Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Lakewood with a 48-44 victory. That looming 48-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Midway yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was Morgan Williams, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Williams set a new season high mark in points with 20.
When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Honestee William. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kimora Corbett, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Lakewood struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Midway posted 11 assists.
Midway's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Lakewood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midway will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Hobbton at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th. Hobbton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against East Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
