St. John's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: The Academy of the Holy Cross, who was ranked third in their home state at the time (St. John's was ranked 20th). The Cadets lost 3-0 to the Tartans on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cadets have suffered since September 5th.
While St. John's was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into The Academy of the Holy Cross' winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-19, 25-23.

Wynn Eaton put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had five digs, two aces, and one block. She has been hot, having also posted 17 or more assists the last five times she's played.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Collegiate 3-0.
The win didn't come easy: Collegiate scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-19.
Bishop O'Connell's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for St. John's, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: St. John's hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 6.9 blocks per game. However, it's not like Bishop O'Connell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
