The Palmview Lobos were the 72-36 winner over the Cigarroa Toros when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Palmview took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cigarroa on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Palmview came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Cigarroa is ranked 1109th).
Several Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Ibarra, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Ibarra has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Dominguez, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Palmview's defeat dropped their record down to 24-12. As for Cigarroa, their win bumped their record up to 7-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmview will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Martin at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Martin will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Palmview surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cigarroa, they will head out on the road to square off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Veterans Memorial is coming into the contest with five straight losses at home, meaning Cigarroa will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
