Softball Recap: Crestview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Shawnee

Crestview scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shawnee Indians. Even though they lost, the Knights' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Dakota Thornell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Kaylee Mollenkopf was another key player, scoring four runs while going 5-for-5.

Crestview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Shawnee, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crestview will take on Parkway at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shawnee, they will face off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
