Patapsco has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Kenwood Bluebirds at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Friday, Patapsco was the victim of a rough 51-29 loss at the hands of the Comets. While losing is never fun, Patapsco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Comets are ranked 97th).
Meanwhile, Kenwood put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lansdowne 69-14 on the road. The win was just what Kenwood needed coming off of a 61-37 defeat in their prior contest.
Mackenzie Green and Diamond Watters were among the main playmakers for Kenwood as the former scored 23 points along with four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalia Rideout, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Patapsco has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Kenwood, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Patapsco was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bluebirds in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 33-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patapsco since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
