Walnut Hills has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the West Clermont Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Walnut Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Walnut Hills didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Knights, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given Walnut Hills' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Knights are ranked 183rd).
It was another big night for Cj Claxton, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ty Austin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Clermont's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 71-41 loss at the hands of Winton Woods. West Clermont has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Walnut Hills' win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14. As for West Clermont, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Walnut Hills couldn't quite finish off the Wolves in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 52-49. Can Walnut Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
