Lena hasn't had much luck against Coleman recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lena 3, Coleman 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lena is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since April 22, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Green Bay Southwest, falling 9-2. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Wildcats' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Lena saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Coleman had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rangers by a score of 8-4.
Coleman let Tyler Reine and Gavin Pusick run wild. Reine went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Pusick went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Pusick is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Bieber, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coleman's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Lena, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lena has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coleman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lena came up short against Coleman when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 9-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
