It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Covenant Eagles can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Christchurch School on Saturday, falling 65-35. Covenant's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Covenant's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Grant Cook, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and Jonathan Newton who rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Newton has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played.
Covenant's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Christchurch School, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Covenant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Christchurch School will face off against Virginia Episcopal School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Virginia Episcopal School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
