The Canyon Hills Rattlers will take on the Chula Vista Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Canyon Hills is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Morse just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 37-36 to the Tigers. The Rattlers gained 66 more yards on the day, but it was the Tigers that made the best use of them.

Canyon Hills might have lost, but man, Ma'Kahi Fields-Cook was a machine: he rushed for 251 yards and three TDs. Fields-Cook's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards. Taylon Sheriff got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Canyon Hills' defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Julius Thomas with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Canyon Hills, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sheriff, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chula Vista walked away with it. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-16 victory over the Mariners. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Canyon Hills better keep an eye on Isaiah Heard. He was instrumental in Chula Vista's win, rushing for 187 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Those 187 rushing yards gave Heard a new career-high.
Chula Vista's run defense was locked in: Mar Vista could only muster 0.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Darrion Frisson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Chula Vista didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.8.
Chula Vista's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Canyon Hills, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
Canyon Hills took a serious blow against Chula Vista in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 52-8. Thankfully for the Rattlers, Izaac Baca (who threw for 209 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
