Matthew Yates made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. He has become a key player for Madisonville-North Hopkins: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Madisonville-North Hopkins got a massive performance out of Evan Lear, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Lear has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Sandidge, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Madisonville-North Hopkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Madisonville-North Hopkins has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Crittenden County struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
