Baseball Recap: Eugene Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

Eugene barely beat Versailles the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Tigers 9-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Drew Hart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Garet Wood was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

Eugene is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Versailles, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Eugene will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sturgeon at 3:30 p.m. As for Versailles, they will head out to face off against Richland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
